My story

In the bustling city of Manassas Virginia, a new chapter in leadership is set to unfold as Xiao-Yin Tang Byrom, a mom of three sons, a woman with remarkable vision and passion, has stepped forward to run for the esteemed position of Mayor. Born out of commitment to community service, and progress, Xiao-Yin's decision to run for office is fueled by her desire to serve in bringing world class transformative change to the city she called home for decades.

Arriving in America from Taiwan when she was a teenager, Xiao-Yin's journey to becoming a political force in Manassas is a testament to her resilience and determination. Her naturalization ceremony took place in 1991 where she proudly swore allegiance to America. After earning a degree in Art from Auburn University in Montgomery Alabama, she embarked on a career as an art teacher, but fate had a different plan for her.

Following the passing of her brother, Fung Tang, Xiao-Yin continued their family tailoring business. Her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence saw her business, Tang's Alterations - Bridal - Bespoke, grow into a beloved local institution in Manassas that attracts clients from all over The DMV and beyond.

Xiao-Yin's leadership extends beyond her business acumen. As a Rotarian she has been recognized for her service and dedication to the community. She has been an advocate of bringing the gift of mobility to Third World countries through wheelchair distribution with Rotary Clubs throughout Virginia and South America. She was voted Rotarian of the Year in 2013 and again in 2023. She has served in various capacities, including as the President of the Rotary Club of Manassas from 2017 till 2018. Her service to the community is further highlighted by her recognition as volunteer of the year in 2014 by the Interservice Club of Manassas and was awarded an Unsung Hero award in 2020 by the same Club.

Her business has been recognized by the Prince William Chamber of Commerce as a Recipient of Excellence in Small Business Award for 2020. Tangs was recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine for being in the top 150 Mom and Pop businesses in the Country in 2023.

Her passion for service is also reflected in her contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she and her team at Tang's Alterations played a significant role in providing masks to the community. This initiative, born out of a desire to serve and protect, is a testament to her ability to lead and act decisively in times of crisis.

As a mayoral candidate, Xiao-Yin Tang Byrom brings a unique blend of business acumen, community service, and a deep understanding of the needs of Manassas. Her vision for the city includes strengthening economic growth, promoting community development, restoring excellence to our schools, and ensuring that Manassas remains a vibrant and inclusive place to live, work, and play.

With her candidacy for Mayor, Xiao-Yin Tang Byrom is poised to bring her experience, passion, and commitment to the forefront of Manassas's political landscape. Her leadership promises to usher in a new era of innovation, community engagement and progress for the city she loves.
